The new, new problem

So for reasons beyond the understanding of a mere mortal like me, the hot hot Calgary real estate market has turned a blind eye to my house and all the precious furniture trapped inside. My mom has been stressing a lot about this, because she had expected to sell the house by now and then we could start packing and moving and so on. This put us in the awkward situation of having to plan our respective trips to new cities without any real guidelines on the contents of this house, or the money we need from it's sale. It boils down to a couple things of note:

1. I'll likely be in Montreal on the 20th of August, regardless of the house.
2. The furniture we have here might not be worth taking out, and mom seems to think we should just sell it all and buy ikea-style when we get to Montreal.

Apparently it's very expensive to move furniture across a continent (who knew?) and it's even harder to sell a house when there's no furniture in it. So either mom and I luck out, someone buys the house in the next couple of days, and then I can drive the furniture to Kingston, or we're shit out of luck for getting any of the big stuff from here. Chances are, the house will sell in September and then mom will be able to give us some of the various goodies (laserdisc, etc.), but until then, we'd have to do without. So I hate to have gotten everyone's hopes up, but for now, the furniture won't be coming with me to Montreal. Add this to the Akaash money thang, and we at least have a reason to use the site again.
